SKZCP

silent colour DVD loop, 2:18 min, 2000

An abstract animation composed by painting directly on to 16mm film and manipulating the images photographically and through video editing. This is a revised edition of SKZCP. The film was originally commissioned with an Arts Council of England / Channel 4 Animate! Award and broadcast in 1997/98.

Letters

A poem of light, speed and memory formed through a combination of abstract handpainted film and live footage, manipulated through the use of optical printing and intricate editing. Letters explores the movement of light as music, text and body language.

Universe Energies Sustain Us

A video collage combining recycled sequences of abstract animation and performance video, exploring the translation and regulation of data by the body and technology; the aesthetics and consequences of error; issues of identity and authenticity, copyright and ownership, access and denial, transparency and difference. Originally presented as a multi-channel installation (Cooper Gallery, Dundee, 2001)

More Light

An improvised camera performance, composed in one take. "Macro fingers in front of the lens provide an ad hoc matte filter, a close focussing mask, rendering the filtered sunlit landscape hazy and indistinct, just as the close sound of breath and tapping on the microphone mingle with the ambient sounds of wind and crickets." A video collage exploring the processes of feedback and communication and the disorientating effects of motion sickness and vertigo. Made using appropriated live video downloaded via peer-to-peer file sharing networks. An ongoing project initiated in 2008

Welcome To Lucca - Neptune's Hand

A diary of observations, actions and ideas-in-progress made by throwing, scratching and jumping, Welcome To Lucca - Neptune’s Hand explores themes of embellishment, defacement, appropriation and play and reflects Iacono’s ongoing concerns with the relationships of body, image and place. The video was produced his Lucca Film Festival residency and was shot in Lucca and Florence.

Elephant

7:30 min, digital video, colour stereo, 2007

A performance tape made by throwing objects in urban space, exploring disorientating gyrations of eye and camera movement, the complexities of optical, physical and social engagement, and the sculptural, rhythmic interplay of sound and light. The video was shot in the market place at South London's famous Elephant and Castle Shopping Centre and was produced during an Animate Projects residency at LCC
